CLIENT FEEDBACK - II

Mary Lou B. - Sausalito, CA
A Marketing and Communications Consultant wanted to position herself for consulting projects.

What do you like most about this new resume?

"I like that it showcases what I do best; it highlights the most relevant aspects and achievements of my experience, and the results and benefits (for the companies and clients for whom I have worked) in a succinct and yet comprehensive way. The reader can get a snapshot of who I am and what I do up-front, and then with a quick scan almost anywhere on my resume can find something that is evidence of my skills."

Please comment on the content, and the representation of you and your skills.

"The content is thorough and really represents what I do best without overstating OR understating. It's all true and I can 'defend' and/or expand on any of it as needed in an interview. I like the summary bullets at the beginning very much."

Please comment on the resume flow and readability.

"It reads very well with strong statements that do not bog down and is constructed in parallel information blocks that look very professional."

Did anything surprise you about the new resume?

"As a writer myself (not always a benefit when writing ones own resume) I'd had pretty good feedback on the content and form of the resume I had used previously. I expected improvements, and was no so much surprised as very pleased that what you added was so well done and thought out … especially the opening bullets (that were more about my personal style) ... I thought they were brilliant."

Please comment on the Awesome Resume process and approach to writing resumes.

"I found your approach very easy and comprehensive. You asked excellent questions which got to the 'payoff' of what my activities did for the companies and project outcomes - this was an important addition to my resume. I loved that we could just 'talk' and wander conversationally in the process instead of only talking about the resume. I feel it probably helped specific information emerge in a more organic fashion than simply approaching your information gathering with a '20 Questions' research style. Plus it was fun!"

How did this process help you get closer to what you are striving to achieve?

"Well, now I don't feel I have to edit my resume every time I send it out. That is huge for me. There might be a few tweaks for job specific language perhaps, but I feel it really is a good view of what I can do for any hiring manager. The best thing? I feel anyone reading my resume now should be impressed, and if I'm not missing some key skill they specifically need, they should want to talk to me. What more can I ask for than that!"
